Evan Boenning

Evan Boenning:  Board Member

I came to Aspen in 1972 as an avid sailor and ocean lover from the East Coast. It was a bold change, but I just seemed to know that I had found my home.  After moving to Aspen, I got married, created a family, cultivated friends, progressed professionally, became involved in the community, and dedicated a significant amount of time to volunteer work. I pursued a business career by day and spent many nights on the ice as a volunteer hockey coach and mentor.

My family and I moved to Mountain Valley, the quiet side of Aspen, in 1989.  I became involved as a homeowner, and was instrumental in the new zoning and additional floor area ratio that came about in the early 90s.  Feeling I needed to do my part, I joined the Mountain Valley Homeowners Board.

David and wife Suzy, of Chicago, have been coming to Aspen since the early 1980s. They moved from town to Mountain Valley in 1995, where they rebuilt an old 1960s home on Mountain Laurel Drive.

Born and raised in Chicago (Hyde Park), David graduated from the University of Chicago Laboratory School in 1960. He attended several universities in the 1960s before earning his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and J.D. from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana). David practices law in Chicago, served as a Judge on the Illinois Court of Claims (1993-2003), and comes to Aspen almost every month year-round when he and Suzy are not traveling. Skiing (!!), biking (!!) golf (??), an occasional hike, old movies and reading are his usual pastimes. Flying, sailing and snowshoeing are sometimes activities.

After being involved in several non profit organizations in the Princeton area, including serving on the Lawerence Township Conservation Foundation Board and the Lawrence Township Historic Preservation Committee, Deborah is interested in becoming more involved in this community.  At the top of her list of personal interests are skiing every run and hiking every trail in this valley…countless times.
